Meet Roman

My everyday life growing up was spent exploring woods and fields for hours on end and it shaped everything about who I am today. I experienced childhood in two chapters: the first was filled with outdoor adventures shared by all the neighborhood kids. The second began when video games arrived, emptying the streets, parks, and yards. Technology reshaped childhood as screens pulled children indoors.

I witnessed, firsthand, a cultural shift in real-time: the dramatic transformation in how kids spend their free time. These events ignited my mission: getting kids back outside through nature connection. My journey led me to earn my degree in Anthropology, where I studied how land-based cultures raise their children, immersed in wilderness and freedom.

After graduation, I moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest where I created games, projects, and activities to teach nature awareness and homesteading to youth.

Over the past three decades, I have had the joy of teaching just about everywhere you can imagine - from public schools and community centers to libraries and city parks, from museums and churches to reservations and homeschool groups.

My teaching experience spans every group and background. I've had the privilege of teaching across the entire age spectrum: From Wilderness Preschool and Forest Kindergarten to College Students and Corporate Staff Retreats.

Drawing from my decades of experience, The Nature School Startup Blueprint provides everything you need to launching your own successful outdoor school.
